About Brian
Brian Pichman has worked with libraries since he was 16, and has been tinkering with computer systems and networks since he was in 5th grade. Through this, Brian has made great strides into the technology industry, coming out with out of the box solutions to some of the most complex issues and situations. Focusing on goals and a tight budget, the projects that are created have always been done way under cost. Some noteworthy projects include Argonne National Labs, introducing new tech to speed up the processing of Material Safety Data Sheets; reducing staff time in gathering and uploading information. Others include the work done inside the Mokena Community Public Library District; including state of the art security cameras designed and installed by Brian and Dave. The camera system out performs systems costing in the mid 100k; done at less than quarter cost. Other installation projects included the induction of Smart Technologies as well as a complete over hall of the network with new Cisco IP Phones.
Part-time, Brian attends Lewis University; and works as Graduate Assistant, providing classes to both Faculty and Staff ranging from Smart Technologies, to web based opportunities such as CMS and social networking, as well as individual software such as Office and Adobe Suites in addition to general tutorials of various operating systems and servers. On top of all that, Brian owns and operates a small business called CIRC Technologies which specializes is making the impossible...possible; providing both consumer and residential solutions to computing problems, networking needs, and so forth.
As a firm believer in sweat equity; Brian has been able to keep the costs low by doing the majority of the work himself. Through this philosophy; Brian has learned a lot; and applies this same philosophy to his home life where its cheaper to learn how to fix something than hire out. With this wealth of information; he brings an excellent extra point of view to all discussions, pointing out extra potential solutions that may end up being the best fit for the scenario.
Brian has attended conferences including ILA, ALA, Reaching Forward South, Computers and Libraries, Internet Librarian, as well as many online webinars regarding both libraries and technology. More over; Brian is pursing entrance in CES and CEDIA to gain further technology knowledge and stay ahead of the curve. Brian is also an active member of the IEEE Society; the worlds largest professional association for the advancement of technology. Through this association; Brian has a plethora of contacts and references in the technology community; and can leverage lots of opportunities and resources to meet the needs of his associates, friends, and colleagues.
Lastly, Brian has outstanding relationships with many big vendors including MNJ Technologies, CCC Technologies, and MacMall/PCMall and constantly refers any extra technology needs to his "teammates" who provide excellent and on the spot resources and assistance.
